Luxury at Lower Prices—The Legacy at Princeton West

SCHAUMBURG, IL, December 5 – At first glance, you’d think somebody made a mistake. Even at second glance, you’d wonder how the new Legacy series of townhomes at Princeton West could cost only $233,990 to $242,990. For these are two-story homes with three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths—a master suite with a large walk-in closet included. Some of the homes feature an expansive Great Room; others come with volume ceilings in the foyer or living room.  They all include a full basement, central air conditioning, and a two-car garage. And, as part of Princeton West, they’re all located in east Elgin, an area that’s dynamic and increasingly Schaumburg-like.

So what about it: Is the quoted price a mistake? “No, definitely not,” said Laura Johnson, Direct of Sales and Marketing for Kenar Homes, the builder of Princeton West.   “We made the new Legacy series $40,000 to $50,000 less than the other Princeton West townhomes as a way to become more competitive. And sure enough, the Legacy homes have generated a lot of interest, particularly among first-time homebuyers.”

However, Johnson understands why the low Legacy prices would leave some people doing double takes. “These homes are pretty luxurious, and they boast a great location. In fact, the latter is a key. Many people who were originally looking in Schaumburg ultimately decided on Princeton West—even before Legacy—because it’s just as nice here in East Elgin and yet more affordable.”

Legacy residents will enjoy quick and easy access to I-90, the transportation lifeline intersecting the area. They’re also minutes away from Sears Centre, the new sports arena and concert venue in neighboring Hoffman Estates. The Chicago Storm professional soccer team plays all its home games there.

Shopping and dining options are also plentiful. On the southwest corner of Rt. 59 (Sutton Road) and Rt. 72 (Higgins) lies the 400,000-square foot Poplar Creek Crossing, whose array of retailers and restaurants includes Target, Pet Smart, Linens n’Things, and Buffalo Wild Wings. Across the street, on the northeast quadrant of 59 and 72, developers are building what will become a lushly landscaped, pedestrian-friendly, 600,000-square foot town center called The Arboretum of South Barrington. Its open-air, upscale mix will include fashion apparel boutiques, home furnishings stores, trendy restaurants, and a multi-screen cinema. For residents willing to travel a little farther for an even wider selection of establishments, nearby Schaumburg beckons with the giant Woodfield Mall and the open-air Streets of Woodfield.

Of course, Legacy buyers will also share all of the other Princeton West advantages, beginning with the community’s beautiful parks, ponds, and bike paths. They’ll also find great schools for the kids—the grade school being within walking distance of the homes.

“With so much going for it, Princeton West would sell well almost regardless of what you’d do. Who wouldn’t want to buy here,” asked Johnson. “Still, by reaching out to different kinds of buyers through the four Legacy models, we’re turning the community into a richer place to live and—from a selling standpoint—one of the hottest in the area. The affordable prices are real, and they make Princeton West big news in a higher priced area like this.”

To reach the community, take Interstate 90 and exit at Beverly Road, go south to Shoe Factory Road, turn west (right) to Toastmaster Road, and then turn right to the sales center. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
